Breast Augmentation Revision / Implant Replacement in Columbus, Ohio

The most common reasons that women decide to replace their breast implants include:

  • Desire to change breast size or shape
  • Desire to change from saline to silicone
  • Correction of breast asymmetry
  • Correction/treatment of capsular contracture
  • Replacement of an implant that has ruptured
  • Replacement of an implant that has shifted or “bottomed-out”

Many women believe that they need to replace their implants every ten years. There is actually no expiration date for breast implants. If you are not experiencing any problems with your breast implants, and you are happy with the size and shape of your breasts then you do not need to replace your implants.

If you are considering breast augmentation revision in Columbus, Ohio, a consultation with Dr. Robert Houser is a great place to start. During your consultation, Dr. Houser will listen to your concerns and find out about the changes that you would like to see in your breasts. He will also examine your breasts and make recommendations about your surgical options.

Breast augmentation revision is usually performed as an out-patient procedure in our AAAASF accredited surgical facility in Westerville, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Recovery for a revision surgery is one to two weeks.

The incisions used for revision surgery are either the periareolar or inframammary. Implants that had originally been placed through the armpit (transaxillary) or through the belly button (transumbilical) often require these additional incisions to perform an accurate revision.

Some patients will require a breast lift at the time of their revision. This may either be confined to the area around the areola (circumareolar), a tennis racquet incision (vertical mastopexy) or the more extensive lift that also places a scar in the fold under the breast (anchor or Wise incision).
